FAIRFIELD, Conn. (February 8, 2026) – The Golden Bears traveled to Connecticut for their annual matchup with the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University. The overall match was one of runs. The Pioneers won the first three weight class matches, followed by three WNE wins. However, the Pioneers finished the day with four consecutive wins to beat WNE 29-15 on Sunday.

How it Happened:
The match did not start the way the Golden Bears had hoped, with the Pioneers taking the 103 lb., 110 lb., and 117 lb. weight-class matches. However, two of those matches went to decision, which helped WNE pick up a couple of points. Lind Holeman would help WNE get the match turned around, though. Holeman won the 124 lb. weight class match via a 10-0 technical fall. Jazmene Molina followed Holeman with a 6-1 decision victory in the 131 lb. weight class, and Tanya Teneva kept the momentum rolling for the Golden Bears with a win via pinfall at 2:39 in the 138 lb. weight class match. WNE had flipped the script from down 11-2 to up 14-12. Unfortunately for WNE, that was their final match win. Sacred Heart took the 145 lb., the 160 lb., the 180 lb., and the 207 lb. weight class matches. They lost via decision once, pinfall twice, and technical fall once, with the final score 29-15 in favor of Sacred Heart.
