MILTON, Mass. (April 12, 2026) – WNE drove to Milton, Massachusetts, for their second conference doubleheader of the weekend with Curry College. The Golden Bears got the bats started early as they tallied nine hits, with four of them being extra-base hits, and four of the hits leading to seven runs and an 8-0 win. Game two saw the bats settle down as the Golden Bears fell 4-1 for their second conference loss of the season.
Game One:
Score:
- Western New England: 8
- Curry College: 0
How it Happened:
First Inning:
- Marley Rodriguez led off the opening contest, picking up right where she left off on Saturday, with a double. However, that was the lone hit of the first inning for either team. Riley Kane picked up two strikeouts for WNE in the bottom of the inning.
Third Inning:
- Both teams went down one, two, three in the second. Leading to the third inning, where Marley Rodriguez hit a second double in as many at-bats to drive Shea McDaniel home. WNE led 1-0 after the third, with three more Colonel batters getting out in order.
Fourth Inning:
- The Golden Bears recorded two more runs in the fourth, with Nicolina Salanto hitting a single to bring Riley Kane home, and Ava Barnhart following that with a sacrifice fly ball to center field to bring Angelees Carrasquillo through the plate. WNE led 3-0 after the fourth. Curry started the bottom of the inning with fireworks, but saw a strikeout lead to two more outs, and Kane was out of the inning.
Fifth Inning:
- After one run in the third and two in the fourth, it was only natural for three runs to score in the fifth. Angelees Carrasquillo singled in the fifth, and all three runners on base came home thanks to an error. Marley Rodriguez, Evelyn Picone, and Katelyn Bailey all scored. WNE's lead was six.
- Outside of a lone single in the fifth, the Colonels could not get a run past Kane, and WNE held their lead into the sixth.
Sixth Inning:
- WNE would earn a double in the sixth, but could not get another run out of it. Then, Curry got two runners on in the sixth, but once again, Kane shut the door and struck out the final batter of the inning to keep the lead at six.
Seventh Inning:
- With two outs in the seventh and runners on first and third, Nicolina Salanto doubled down the left field line. That brought both runners home, and WNE had a massive 8-0 lead. A lead that would hold as Kane sat the home team down one, two, three in the final inning to earn the complete-game win.
Inside the Diamond:
- WNE won the opening contest of the day, 8-0.
- Marley Rodriguez and Nicolina Salanto led the Golden Bears from the plate with two hits each.

Game Two:

How it Happened:
First Inning:

Third Inning:
- Once again, the second inning saw both offenses get sat down in order, and the third inning found runs scored. Evelyn Picone hit a sacrifice fly to right field, driving Katherine Brooks home, and the Golden Bears had the lead.
- The Colonels hit back this time. Renee Gonneville slapped a shot over the left field wall, and WNE trailed 2-1.

Sixth Inning:
- The fifth inning was quiet, and the top of the sixth saw the Golden Bears unable to tie the score. Curry capitalized on that in the bottom of the inning as they got run support from a Lindsay DesRoberts single, bringing Tara Goldman home.
- Then, a wild pitch saw Olivia Roy take off towards home and make it in time as the Colonels earned a 4-1 lead.
