SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 27, 2026) – The Conference of New England (CNE) announced on Monday afternoon that
Kaylin Heffern earned the conference's Softball Rookie of the Week award due to last week's outstanding performance inside the pitching circle.
The Golden Bears saw
Kaylin Heffern earn the CNE's Softball Rookie of the Week on Monday. This is Heffern's first award in her Golden Bear career, and it comes after going 2-0 in three appearances last week, including an outstanding performance versus the conference's standings leader, Endicott College. The Bethlehem, New York, native had a stat line through three appearances that saw her record a 1.31 ERA and an opposing batting average of .190. Heffern struck out 12 batters in 16 innings pitched, only let up three earned runs, and recorded a shutout victory versus the Nichols College Bison. It was a top-tier week for Heffern with both wins coming from complete games in which Heffern let up no runs in the first and two in the second.
Heffern and the rest of the Golden Bear Softball team will be traveling to Willimantic, Connecticut, for their final nonconference contest of the 2026 regular season. They will take on the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM.
