SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" Junior center Lisa Masella (Newtown, CT) had a double double with 13 points and 19 rebounds â€" the 23rd of her career Ð to lead host Western New England College to a 64-52 win over Westfield State College in the third annual Pioneer Valley Women's Hoop Classic.

Sophomore guard Laura Booth (Chicopee, MA) added a season high 15 points while senior forward Shelley Everson (Plainville, CT) had a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Golden Bears evened their record at 2-2 with their first win ever in the tournament.

WNEC, which led 40-25 at half-time, never trailed in the game.

Junior forward Amanda Chapin (Westfield, MA) led the Owls (2-3) with a double double of 14 points and 15 rebounds. Sophomore guard Sarah Langner (New Hartford, CT) came off the bench to score 11 points.

In the first game, freshman guard Christine Cotter (Stoughton, MA) scored a game high 16 points to lead four players in double figures as Springfield College posted a 67-59 victory over Amherst College.

Junior center Erin Schwartz (Milford, CT) added 11 points and 13 rebounds while junior forward Courtney Parvin (Brackney, PA) and sophomore guard Amanda Hill (Cheshire, CT) each contributed 13 points.

Springfield (4-1) trailed by 10 points early in the first half before coming back to take a 43-28 half-time lead. The Jeffs never got closer than five points twice in the second half.

Junior guard Krissy Mortin (Litchfield, NH) led Amherst with 15 points while sophomore guard Jenny Muller (Andover, MA) had 13 points. Junior center Katie Latham (Wakefield, MA) chipped in with 12 points and nine rebounds. Amherst is now 4-2.
