AMHERST, Mass. - Western New England College received a 16-point effort from senior guard Jon Godbout (Bristol, CT), but No. 4 Amherst proved too strong in taking a 78-57 victory in a non-conference men's basketball contest Tuesday night.

Sophomore Ryan Hernandez (Hampton Bays, NY) contributed 11 points and junior center Deon Thomas (Albany, NY) pulled down a career high nine rebounds for the Golden Bears.

Western New England College (2-4) shot 33.3% from the floor in each half while Amherst finished the game making 50.9% of its shots from the field. Senior guard John Bedford led the Jeffs (5-0) with 15 points.
