Box Score WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Western New England College's men's hockey team came through with another solid effort Tuesday, but Framingham State prevailed by the score of 3-1 in a non-conference game at the Olympia Ice Center.
After a scoreless first period, the Rams struck for two quick goals in a 26-second span in the final minute of the second stanza.
The Golden Bears (0-7-1) pulled within one when senior Pat Henderson (Marlton, NJ) scored on a power play goal at the 4:15 mark of the third period. Freshmen Mike Majesty (Chicago, IL) and Hank Levin (Lido Beach, NY) received assists on the play.
Framingham State (3-4-1) added an insurance goal with 3:29 remaining in the game.
Western New England College senior goalie Brian Essig (Saddle Brook, NJ) finished with 44 saves while sophomore Pat Sampson (Braintree, MA) had 32 stops for Framingham. Each player made 19 stops in the opening period. Freshman Brandon Reith (Gloucester, MA) led the Rams with two goals.
