WNEC 62, St. Joseph (Conn.) 46

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" Freshman guard Jennifer Dabrowski (Plainville, CT) and sophomore forward Sharon Simoncelli (Litchfield, CT) came off the bench to score 12 and 11 points, respectively, to lead Western New England College to a 62-46 victory over St. Joseph College (Connecticut) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game.

A season high crowd of 825 watched the contest as part of Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Freshman point guard Megan Ferguson (Plainville, CT) didn't score a field goal, but added 10 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the foul line. Junior center Lisa Masella (Newtown, CT) chipped in with nine points and a game high 17 rebounds.

Western New England College (15-6, 8-2 GNAC) led 27-12 at half-time before St. Joseph scored the first six points of the second half, but the Blue Jays couldn't get any closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Junior forward Edna Caamano (East Hartford, CT) led St. Joseph College (11-9, 5-3) with 14 points and nine rebounds.

This was the 10th time this season that the Golden Bears held an opponent to under 50 points.
