EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Western New England College continued its winning ways by taking a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader against Johnson & Wales University by the scores of 6-0 and 12-3.
Senior Jackie Shedlock (Oak Ridge, NJ) allowed only one hit in six innings and struck out 10 in the first game to improve her record to 7-1. Junior first baseman Erin Whitcomb (Bellows Falls, VT) led the offense by going 3-for-4 with a triple, solo homer, and three RBI. Senior centerfielder Chrissy Locascio (Queens, NY) was 2-for-4 with a run and RBI.
The Golden Bears had 13 hits in the second game led again by Whitcomb who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a pair of runs. Senior second baseman Sarah Moisao (Harwinton, CT), sophomore designated player Jess Nelson (South Hadley, MA), and freshman catcher Allison Glassick (Guilford, CT) each contributed two hits.
Western New England College now has won eight straight games to raise its record to 13-2, including a perfect 6-0 mark in the conference.
