Box Score CHICOPEE, Mass. - Junior guard Christine Aldrich (Montpelier, VT) scored a career high 16 points and dished out four assists to lead Western New England College to an easy 71-43 victory over Elms College Tuesday in a non-conference women's basketball contest.
Aldrich was the only player on the Golden Bears squad to hit double figures after connecting on 6-of-10 shots from the field, including 4-of-5 three-pointers.
Western New England College, which bounced back from a tough two-point loss (60-58) at Johnson & Wales last Saturday, jumped to an early 20-4 lead before Elms used a late 12-5 run to trail by only 11 (37-26) at halftime.
The Golden Bears (8-4) opened the second half with a 11-2 run to take a commanding 48-28 advantage and never looked back.
WNEC held the Blazers to 24.1% shooting from the field in the final 20 minutes and only 28.8% for the game.
Western New England College had 11 players hit the scoring column with junior forward Sharon Simoncelli (Litchfield, CT) contributing nine points coming off the bench. Senior center Lisa Masella (Newtown, CT) and sophomore guard Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, CT) each chipped in with eight points. Masella also had six rebounds in 11 minutes while Dabrowski added five rebounds and five assists.
Sophomore guard Brittnay Larrabee (West Danville, VT) scored her first varsity basket on a baseline jumper in the final minute of play.
Elms (6-5) lost for only the second time in its last seven contests. Senior forward Danielle Dugre (Holyoke, MA) had game highs of 18 points and eight rebounds for the Blazers.
