Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Western New England College scored the first six points of the game and never looked back in posting an easy 68-44 victory over Albertus Magnus College Monday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's basketball contest.
Senior center Lisa Masella (Newtown, CT) ignored some pre-game heckling from fans to score a game-high 17 points after making 8-of-11 shots from the field.
Sophomore guard Tiffany DeRosa (Hamden, CT) added 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists playing a few miles from her hometown. She made 6-of-8 shots from the floor, inclouding 3-of-5 from three-point range.
Junior forward Vicky Taylor (Feeding Hills, MA) pulled down a career high 15 rebounds as the Golden Bears held a commanding 48-28 advantage on the board.ÂÂ
Taylor also scored eight points as did junior guard Christine Aldrich (Montpelier, VT) and sophomore guard Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, CT). Junior center Kerri Sullivan (Cumberland, RI) chipped in with six rebounds.
Western New England College shot 62.1% in the opening 20 minutes to take a 42-16 lead at intermission.
The Golden Bears are now 12-5 overall and 3-2 in the GNAC. The Falcons fall to 5-12 and 2-5.
