SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" The Western New England College women’s volleyball team started off strong, but Eastern Connecticut University came back to take a 3-1 victory in a non-conference match Monday (Oct. 23) during “Senior Night” at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

The Golden Bears won the first game 31-29 before the Warriors took the next three by the scores of 30-21, 30-12, and 30-17.

Senior Amy Lorinovich (Hampstead, NH) had 13 kills for Western New England College while senior Jess Vogel (Tonawanda, NY) contributed 23 assists.

They were honored before the match along with classmates Kristen Wellen (Marlboro, MA) and Teddy Woeppel (Cooperstown, NY).

Junior Emma Sousa (Coventry, CT) led the Warriors with 21 kills while senior Jessica Keogh (Monroe, CT) added 13 kills, 14 digs, and eight service aces. ECSU (26-8) is ranked seventh among New England Division III programs.

Western New England College has a 15-10 record entering a non-league match Thursday (Oct. 26) at Roger Williams.
