Box Score 2 BOSTON, Mass. â€" The Western New England College women’s volleyball team, under first-year coach Charlie Haer, clinched third place in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with victories over host Emerson (3-2) and Norwich (3-1) Saturday (Oct. 28).
The Golden Bears won the five-game opener against the Lions 31-29, 30-28, 28-30, 22-30, and 15-6 before defeating the Cadets 30-18, 23-30, 30-18, and 30-20.
Against Emerson, junior Ashley O’Keefe (South Dennis, MA) had a double-double with 12 kills and 16 digs (along with six blocks and four aces). Senior Jess Vogel (Tonawanda, NY) contributed 41 assists and 18 digs. Senior Amy Lorinovich (Hampstead, NH) added 17 kills and eight digs while freshman Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) had 14 kills and three blocks.
Lorinovich came back with 14 kills against Norwich while O’Keefe had 12 and Vogel 36 assists and five aces.
