AUBURN, Mass. - For the second straight game the Western New England College men's hockey team allowed a pair of short-handed goals in suffering a 7-2 loss against Worcester State in an ECAC Northeast contest Thursday (Nov. 16).
The Golden Bears never led in the game tying the score at 1-1 on a goal by sophomore forward Hank Levin (Lido Beach, NY) at 10:42 of the opening period and again at 2-2 on a score by junior defensman Nick Klassen (Parker, CO) at 9:47 of the middle stanza. It was the first goal of the season for both players.
The Lancers went ahead for good on a short-handed shot by Tom Ford just 1:28 later and broke the game open with four more goals (including three in a 3:23 span late in the game).
Western New England College had a tough night on the power play failing to convert all nine opportunities.
Klassen had the assist on Levin's goal while junior forward Shawn Longley (Lewiston, ME) had an assist on the second goal.
The Golden Bears fall to 2-4 and 0-3 in the ECAC Northeast. The Lancers are 2-4 and 1-2 in the conference.
