In a back-and-forth contest, the Golden Bears scored three goals in the final period for a 4-3 non-conference men's hockey victory over Suffolk Tuesday night (Nov. 21) at the Walter Brown Arena.
Freshman forward Matt Haddock (Hilliard, OH) scored the game-winner with 2:39 remaining in the game with an assist from sophomore left wing Phil Lamy (Manchester, NH).
WNEC played catch-up most of the evening after Suffolk took a 1-0 lead 4:37 into the opening period. The Golden Bers tied the game on a goal by sophomore forward Hank Levin (Lido Beach, NY) just two minutes later with an assist from Lamy. The Rams tallied again in the second stanza for a 2-1 advantage after 40 minutes.
Levin's second goal (and third of the season) knotted the contest at the 8:21 mark of the third period. Haddock and sophomore defenseman Jake Rinaldo (Union, NJ) assisted on the play.
Suffolk then scored again at the 13:18 juncture for its final lead of the night. Thirty-five seconds later junior forward Ross Bennett (Warwick, RI) notched his first college goal with assists from sophomore forward Jason Remsbecker (Farmingdale, NY) and junior forward Shawn Longley (Lewiston, ME).
Junior goalie Brandon Gervais (Lewiston, ME) turned away 40 shots fore the Golden Bears who now own a 3-4 record heading into the Thanksgiving holiday.
John Rocchio had a goal and two assists for the Rams (0-4-1) while Dan Pencinger had a goal and assist.
