WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" Sophomore left wing Phil Lamy (Manchester, NH) had the lone goal for Western New England College in a 7-1 loss against Wentworth Institute of Technology in an ECAC Northeast men's hockey game Thursday night (Nov. 9) at the Olympia Ice Center.
Wentworth didn’t waste any time taking a 1-0 lead only 41 seconds into the contest and a 2-0 advantage at 3:04 on a power play goal.
In the second stanza Lamy answered with his own power play goal with an assist from freshman forward Matt Haddock (Hilliard, OH) at the 7:12 mark. Lamy has three goals in three games this season.
The Leopards stopped the Golden Bears momentum dead in its tracks scoring just 1:26 later while adding two more goals for a comfortable 5-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Sophomore goalie Kyle Sagnella (East Haven, CT) played well in his WNEC debut stopping eight shots without allowing a goal in the final 17 minutes, 45 seconds.
Western New England College is now 1-2 and 0-1 in the ECAC Northeast while Wentworth is 2-0 following its second league victory.
