SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" Western New England College shot a season low 25.8% from the field in suffering a 73-54 loss to Amherst College in the second day of action at the Pioneer Valley Women’s Hoop Classic Saturday (Dec. 2) at Springfield College’s Blake Arena.

The Golden Bears (3-3) took an early 5-0 lead just 2:28 into the contest before the Jeffs came back to take a 34-26 lead at half-time.

Amherst maintained its lead throughout the second half and finished making 54.4% of its field-goal attempts.

Junior guard Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, CT) had 16 points for Western New England College and was named to the Pioneer Valley Classic All-Tournament Team after scoring 32 points in two contests.

Senior forward Vicky Taylor (Feeding Hills, MA) had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Amherst (3-3) had four players in double figures led by junior forward Stefanie Reiff (Hinsdale, IL) with 17 points. Freshman forward Samantha Swensen (Rockaway Park, NY) chipped-in with 14 points and seven rebounds.
