Box Score PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - Western New England College saw a third period comeback come up just short in suffering a 4-2 loss at Salve Regina Saturday night in an ECAC Northeast men's hockey game.
The Golden Bears trailed 1-0 after two periods and 2-0 only 3:06 into the final period before tying the contest with a pair of goals in 59 seconds.
Freshman defenseman Joe Balog (Ludlow, MA) scored at the 6:05 mark with assists from freshman forward Mike Majesty (Chicago, IL) and senior defenseman Dave Wright (New City, NY). Sophomore wing Shawn Longley (Lewiston, ME) knotted the game at 7:04 with an assist from sophomore defenseman Pat Tamez (Mt. Laurel, NJ).
Salver Regina, however, took advantage of a late WNEC penalty to score a power play goal at the 18:36 mark and added an empty net goal with 46 seconds remaining.
Western New England College falls to 3-14-3 overall and 0-11-2 in the ECAC Northeast.
