Western New England College can't find shooting touch in loss to Johnson & Wales

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Western New England College men's basketball team had its lowest scoring output of the season after dropping a 56-43 decision to Johnson & Wales Thursday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game.

The Golden Bears got off to a slow start making only six baskets and shooting 28.6% from the floor to trail 23-15 at intermission.

JWU took its biggest lead at 32-17 with 15:45 remaining in the game before Western New England College rallied by pulling within five at 40-35 at the 8:11 mark. That would be as close as the Golden Bears would get as the Wildcats hit 6-of-8 shots from the charity stripe in the final minute to seal the win.

Senior guard Jon Godbout (Bristol, CT) was the only Golden Bears player in double figures with 13 points.

Sophomore guard Ryan Hernandez (Hampton Bays, NY) finished with nine points after making 3-of-4 three-pointers.

Western New England College finished shooting 35.7% from the field, but made only 7-of-13 shots (53.8%) from the foul line.

The Golden Bears are now 13-11 overall and 11-6 in the conference.

Johnson & Wales evened its record at 12-12 while moving to 10-7 in the GNAC.
