SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The University of Minnesota Morris made a successful trip east by winning the sixth annual Western New England College Invitational Saturday with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Keene State Saturday (Sept. 2) at the Alumni Healthful Living.
The Cougars, who were 3-1 in the tournament, lost to the Owls last night 3-0 and trailed 2-1 in the title match before pulling out the final two games. Senior outside hitter Sarah Nelson (Alexandria, MN) was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Despite losing two matches, Western New England College finished fourth in the tournament after splitting four matches over the two-day event. Senior setter/defensive specialist Jess Vogel (Tonawanda, NY) made the All-Tournament Team.
