Western New England College moves into tie for first in GNAC after win over Suffolk

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College women's volleyball team moved into a tie for first place in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 3-1 victory over Suffolk University Wednesday evening (Sept. 20) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. The game scores were 31-29, 30-18, 17-30, and 30-25.

The Golden Bears improved to 8-5 with their fourth consecutive win and remained unbeaten in the conference with a 3-0 mark. WNEC shares the top spot with Rivier (9-2) who had the night off.

Senior outside hitter Amy Lorinovich (Hampstead, NH) compiled 21 kills to lead Western New England College. She also had four service aces in the second game.

Senior defensive specialist Jess Vogel (Tonawanda, NY) contributed 18 digs while sophomore setter Marissa DiSimoni (Pittsfield, MA) chipped in with 42 assists.

Junior middle hitter Ashley O'Keefe (South Dennis, MA) had three straight service aces in the final game.

Suffolk falls to 4-9 and 2-1 in the conference.
