FITCHBURG, Mass. - Fitchburg state College scored four times in the final period to come away with a 9-4 victory over visiting Western New England College in an ECAC Northeast men's hockey contest Saturday (Jan. 20).
The Golden Bears trailed only 3-2 after the opening period following goals by junior forward Ross Bennett (Warwick, RI) and senior forward Mike Amato (Mt. Laurel, NJ).
Sophomore forward Phil Lamy (Manchester, NH) tied the game with a short-handed goal less than a minute into the second. The Falcons responded with a power play goal by Jason Ledo only eight seconds later and added another power play score at the 5:44 mark for a 5-3 advantage after 40 minutes.
FSC senior Mike Dryer put the hosts ahead 6-3 with his 100th career point on a power play goal 2:04 into the third period.
Western New England College sophomore forward Mike Majesty (Chicago, IL) cut the margin to two before the Falcons gained control the rest of the way.
The Golden Bears are now 7-8 overall and 1-6 in the ECAC Northeast.
