WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Suffolk University jumped to an early lead and never looked back in posting a 4-1 victory over Western New England College in an ECAC Northeast men's hockey game Tuesday night (Jan. 30) at the Olympia Ice Center.
The Rams led 1-0 after the opening period and 3-0 in the second stanza before junior forward Ross Bennett (Warwick, RI) put the Golden Bears on the board with assists from senior forward Mike Amato (Mt. Laurel, NJ) and sophomore forward Mike Majesty (Chicago, IL) at the 19:40 mark.
Junior forward Andrew Redvanly added the final goal for the visitors in the third period to go along with two assists. Sophomore Scott Zanolli contributed a goal and assist.
Junior goalie Brandon Gervais (Lewiston, ME) finished with 26 saves for Western New England College while sophomore Mark Grignon made 15 stops for Suffolk.
The Golden Bears fall to 7-12 overall and 1-10 in the league while the Rams improve to 6-12-1 and 5-5.
Western New England College defeated Suffolk 4-3 in the first meeting this season back on November 21 in Boston.
