WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" The Western New England College men’s hockey team allowed a pair of power play goals in dropping a 2-1 decision to Franklin Pierce in an ECAC Northeast contest Saturday night (Jan. 6) at the Olympia Ice Center.
The Ravens took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by senior Brian DelSavio at the 13:28 mark.
After a scoreless second stanza, Franklin Pierce went ahead 2-0 when sophomore Kyle Krause found the net 7:20 into the third period. Krause also had an assist on the first goal.
Western New England College averted the shutout when sophomore Phil Lamy (Manchester, NH) scored his team high seventh goal 28 seconds remaining in the contest with an assist from junior Shawn Longley (Lewiston, ME).
Sophomore Kyle Sagnella (East Haven, CT) made 26 saves for the Golden Bears who are now 6-6 (1-4 in the conference).
This was the first game for Western New England College since December 7.
Junior Spencer Utman stopped 23 shots for the Ravens who improve to 4-6-2 (2-5-2 in the ECAC Northeast).
