NEWPORT, R.I. - The Western New England College women's volleyball team set a school record for wins after blanking both Eastern Nazarene (30-20, 30-13, 30-20) and host Salve Regina (30-24, 30-24, 30-16) by the scores of 3-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action Saturday afternoon (Oct. 27).
The Golden Bears, under second-year coach Charlie Haer, improved their record to 22-8; breaking the old mark of 21 victories set in 2002.
Senior Ashley O'Keefe (South Dennis, MA) had 28 kills in the two matches with nine digs and five service aces against Eastern Nazarene.
Sophomore Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) had a double double with 15 kills and 13 digs against Salve Regina.
Freshman setter Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) added 65 assists (33 vs. Eastern Nazarene) and had three service aces in each match.
Freshman Samantha Shomo (Glen Gardner, NJ) contributed 10 kills and three aces.
These were the final regular season matches for the Golden Bears who ended with a 6-4 record in conference play.
Pairings and seedings for TCCC Tournament will be announced.
