SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior forward Travon Little (Danbury, CT) and senior guard Kevin Ritter (Hopewell Junction, NY) each scored 17 points as visiting Keene State remained undefeated with a 90-71 victory over Western New England College in a non-league men's basketball game Tuesday evening (Nov. 20).
The Owls improve their record to 3-0 while the Golden Bears (who were making their home debut) fall to 1-2.
Ritter connected on 7-of-8 shots from the field while Little had a big game with seven rebounds and three steals.
Senior point guard Matt Hickey (Mahopac, NY) added 15 points after making 5-of-7 three-pointers while senior guard Anthony Licitra (Glastonbury, CT) came off the bench to score 11 points. Junior forward Tyler Kathan (Ludlow, VT) was the fifth KSC player in double figures with 10 points.
Keene State led 45-33 at half-time and used a 16-4 run in the opening 3:56 of the second half to open up a commanding 61-37 advantage.
Western New England College senior point guard Asif Abdul-Wadud (Springfield, MA) led four players in double figures with 16 points. He also contributed five rebounds and a game high four steals. Freshman forward Brad Thomka (Springfield, MA) netted 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds in a reserve role.
Junior guard Matt Maynard (Paterson, NJ) chipped in with 13 points while junior forward Kyle Fredette (Wallingford, VT) had 12 points, eight rebounds, and five blocked shots.
Keene State shot 51.6% from the field and made 16-for-26 three-pointers (61.5%). Western New England College shot 40% from the floor, but made only 1-of-14 three-point attempts.
