MEDFORD, Mass. – Senior Khalilah Ummah (Litchfield, ME) and junior Katie Tausanovitch (Lyme, NH) both scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Tufts University women's basketball team improved to 3-0 with a 73-62 victory over Western New England College Tuesday night (Nov. 20) at Cousens Gym.

WNEC took a 22-17 lead after a jumper by sophomore guard Kristi LaBare (Burke, NY) at 6:40 of the first half. However, a three-pointer by Stacy Filocco (Olney, MD) gave Tufts the lead for good at 23-22 with 3:17 remaining until halftime.

Trailing 31-27 at intermission, the Golden Bears pulled within one by opening the second half with a three-pointer by senior guard Tiffany DeRosa (Hamden, CT). DeRosa finished with 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Jumbos went on to score 14 of the next 16 points to take a 13-point lead at 45-32 at 13:23 of the second half. Moynihan scored five points and Tausanovitch had four during the stretch.

Senior co-captain Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, CT) had another big game for Western New England College finishing with the game-high 22 points. She also added eight rebounds and six assists.

Western New England College, which shot 39.0% from the field, also received 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks from freshman guard Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT).

WNEC freshman guard Lauren Stock (Rocky Hill, CT) suffered an injury in the opening  inute and didn't return to the contest. She was averaging 11.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in her first two outings.

This was the first loss in three games for the Golden Bears.
