WORCESTER, Mass. – Host Assumption broke open a close game with two goals in the final period for a 4-1 victory over Western New England College in ECAC Northeast men's hockey action Tuesday night (Nov. 27) at Buffone Rink.

Patrick Fitzgibbons gave the Ice Dogs a 1-0 lead just 1:21 into the contest before sophomore defenseman Joe Trimboli (Las Vegas, NV) knotted things with his first collegiate goal at the 7:22 mark. Freshmen forward Kyle Daly (Auburn, MA) and freshman defenseman Alex Gorczyca (Columbus, IN) earned the assists.

Jim Trahon then gave the hosts a 2-1 advantage at 15:36 of the opening period.

After a scoreless second stanza, John Routhier and Brian Phillips each scored insurance goals in the opening 2:29 of the final period.

Assumption, which had a 38-22 advantage in shots, goes over the .500 mark at 5-4 and 2-1 in the ECAC Northeast.

Western New England College junior goalie Kyle Sagnella (East Haven, CT) finished with 34 saves. The Golden Bears fall to 0-8-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the conference.
