SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Jason Anderson (Arden Hills, MN) scored the game-winner 2:11 into overtime as visiting Framingham State won its first game of the season with a 3-2 victory over Western New England College in a non-league men's hockey game Tuesday night (Dec. 4) at Smead Arena.
The Rams are now 1-9 while the Golden Bears remain winless at 0-9-1.
Western New England College took a 1-0 lead when junior Phil Lamy (Manchester, NH) scored just 1:53 into the game with assists from freshmen Tyler Kwalek (Wallingford, CT) and Chris Lloyd (Lindenhurst, NY).
Freshman Alex Gorczyca (Columbus, IN) gave the Golden Bears a 2-1 lead at the 14:08 mark of the middle stanza. Junior Hank Levin (Lido Beach, NY) assisted on the play. Junior goalie Kyle Sagnella (East Haven, CT) compiled 35 saves.
Framingham State trailed 2-1 after two periods before Jeremy Schmidt (Huffman, TX) tied the contest at the 5:02 mark.
Senior Nicholas Glum (Bellingham, MA) had the first goal for the visitors, which tied the game at 9:36 of the opening period. He also added an assist on the winning shot.
Junior goalie Jamie Babineau (Medway, MA), who played for WNEC last season, finished with 28 saves for his first win in three outings.
