CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Western New England College dropped a pair of games to Lasell 11-6 and Bowdoin 3-0 on its final day of competition Friday (Mar. 23) at the Gene Cusic Softball Classic.
In the first game, junior third base player Meredith Pacelli (Hamden, CT) went 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs, and a RBI. Junior catcher Allison Glassick (Newport, RI) and freshman shortstop Kate Post (Bridgewater, MA) also had two hits while sophomore pitcher Brittany DeGennaro (Orange, CT) slugged her first homer of the season.
The Lasers also used the long ball with four homers and broke the game open by scoring five times in the fourth inning to take an 8-1 lead.
In the second game, Western New England College managed only six hits with Pacelli going 3-for-3 at the plate to complete a five-hit day. The Golden Bears didn't help themselves with 11 strikeouts and four errors.
Western New England College ended its spring break to Florida with a 2-6 record losing their last five contests.
