SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Western New England College scored the first 10 points of the game and never looked back in cruising to a 63-33 victory over visiting Elms College Thursday evening (Jan. 17) in a non-league women's basketball contest at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
This was the third consecutive win for the Golden Bears who improved their record to 7-6.
Senior guard Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, CT) led three players in double figures with 18 points after making 7-of-10 shots from the field, including 3-of-3 from three-point territory.
Dabrowski also moved into fifth place on the school's all-time women's scoring list with 1,291 points, passing Tovana Brown '87 (1,274) and former teammate Lisa Masella '06 (1,289).
Senior guard Tiffany DeRosa (Hamden, CT) added 13 points while freshman guard Lauren Stock (Rocky Hill, CT) contributed 12 points. Sophomore guard Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) came off the bench to score a season high seven points with four rebounds.
The Golden Bears had a 48-36 advantage off the boards with sophomore forward Kaylyn Smith (Rensselaer, NY) pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard Taeler Connor (Ayer, MA) led the Blazers with six points while junior forward Erin Hutchinson (Groton, MA) compiled a game high nine rebounds.
Elms falls to 5-7 after losing for the third time in its last four outings.
