Western New England College drops fall match to city rival Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College men's tennis team completed its fall season by dropping a 7-2 decision at city rival Springfield Friday afternoon (Oct. 10).

This match and the contests next spring will count in the Golden Bears' overall record for the 2008-09 season.

In today's action, WNEC managed only a win in both singles and doubles competition.

Sophomore Brian Relihan (Orange, CT) had a terrific showing as he rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 2 singles position.

Sophomore Steve Genovese (North Haven, CT) and freshmen JonPaul Ouellette (Bethlehem, CT) teamed for an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles in their college debuts.

There were several close and exciting matches, including senior Jason Lee (Scarsdale, NY) playing well despite falling in three sets (4-6, 6-4, and 6-4).
