BEVERLY, Mass. - Another successful season for Western New England College came to an end with a 7-2 loss to Endicott in a semifinal round match of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Women's Tennis Tournament Thursday afternoon (Oct. 23).
Junior Kelly Murnane (Cheshire, CT) was a double winner for the Golden Bears capturing her No. 5 singles singles match in straight sets over senior Kate Fiske (Westerly, RI) and teaming with sophomore Ashley Czeltka (Southampton, NY) for a victory at No. 3 doubles over Fiske and senior Jenna Carme (Greenfield, MA).
WNEC, who defeated Salve Regina 5-4 in a quarterfinal round match, was seeded sixth in the tournament and Endicott second. The Gulls will visit top-seeded Colby-Sawyer (a 6-3 winner over fourth-seeded Roger Williams) in the championship match on Saturday (Oct. 25).
After starting the year with four straight losses, Western New England College finished the season with an impressive 10-6 record.
