Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior forward Jeff Olitch (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) scored a hat trick and contributed an assist as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's hockey team rolled to a 9-1 victory over Western New England College in an ECAC Northeast contest Thursday evening (Nov. 13) at Smead Arena.
Freshman forward Skylur Jameson (Long Beach, CA) added two goals and three assists for the Leopards who improved their record to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the league.
WNEC took a 1-0 lead when freshman forward Mike Kaselouskas (East Longmeadow, MA) scored his first collegiate goal at 7:40 of the opening period with an assist from senior forward Mike Majesty (Chicago, IL).
After that, it was all Wentworth.
Olitch scored his first goal on a power play at the 9:01 mark and put the visitors ahead for good just 3:11 later as Wentworth led 2-1 after the opening stanza. He then tallied his third goal on another power play at 4:11 of the middle period.
Jameson had assists on the first three goals, and then scored twice at 4:23 and 8:51 of the second period to give Wentworth a comfortable 5-1 advantage after 40 minutes.
Freshman defenseman Alan Dionne (North Scituate, RI) chipped in with three assists while freshman forward Forrest Ellis (Pembroke, NH) had a goal and assist. Junior goalie Justin Marriott (St. Clair Shores, MI) finished with 23 saves for the Leopards.
WNEC sophomore goalie Justin Richards (Somers, CT) compiled 38 saves before being replaced in the third period by senior Kyle Sagnella (East Haven, CT) who stopped two shots in almost five minutes.
The Golden Bears remain winless at 0-3, which also is their league record.
