Western New England College uses fast start to overpower Elms College

CHICOPEE, Mass. - Junior guard Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) and sophomore guard Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT) each scored 16 points as the Western New England College women's basketball team rolled to an 88-54 victory over host Elms College in a non-league contest Tuesday evening (Nov. 18).

Freshman guard Mikaela Berthiaume (St. Albans, VT) added 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists as the Golden Bears improved their record to 2-0.

Sophomore forward Kelly McCormick (Manchester, CT) contributed nine points and eight rebounds coming off the bench.

Also for the Golden Bears, junior guard Kristi LaBare (Burke, NY) chipped in with eight points while junior forward Kaylyn Smith (Rensselaer, NY) netted seven points and had five boards.

Western New England College shot 51.3% from the field to take a commanding 53-20 lead at half-time. WNEC finished shooting 46.9% from the floor and had a 49-31 advantage in rebounding.

Junior forward Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) led the Blazers (0-2) with 15 points and eight rebounds while freshman guard Misty Kology (Ludlow, MA) had 13 points in a reserve role.
