AUBURN, Mass. - Freshman center John Cahalane (Tewksbury, MA) scored three goals, including the game-winner with 28 seconds left, as the Worcester State men's hockey team rallied for a 7-6 victory over visiting Western New England College in a non-league contest Tuesday evening (Nov. 25).

The Golden Bears took a 6-4 lead when freshman defenseman Joe Deptula (Anchorage, AK) netted his first college goal 4:55 into the final period.

Sophomore defenseman Kris Metea (Taunton, MA) netted his first goal of the season to pull the Lancers within one at the 15:26 mark.

Cahalane tied the game just 34 seconds later and fired home the winning shot to complete the comeback.

Freshman center Kory Grahl (San Diego, CA) scored his first two college goals to help the Golden Bears to a 2-2 tie after the opening period.

Sophomore defenseman Chris Loyd (Lindenhurst, NY) scored twice and senior forward Ross Bennet-Bonn (Warwick, RI) added his first goal of the season as WNEC took a 5-2 lead at 11:16 of the second stanza.

Lloyd and Grahl each also contributed an assist for the Golden Bears who fall to 1-6.

Senior forward Mike Majesty (Chicago, IL) and sophomore forward Kyle Daly (Auburn, MA) both had a pair of assists. Sophomore goalie Justin Richards (Somers, CT) compiled 28 saves.

Junior forward Andy Orsini (Rochester, NY) had a goal and three assists for the hosts while freshman forward Tom Pappa (Oswego, NY) chipped-in with three assists.

Junior goalie Brian Robinson (Groveland, MA) stopped 12 of his 24 shots in the final period to gain his first win of the season in two decisions.

Worcester State raises its record to 3-4.
