SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England College women's basketball team is peaking at the right time.
Seniors guards Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, CT) and Tiffany DeRosa (Hamden, CT) once again led the way as the Golden Bears posted an easy 64-41 victory over visiting Gordon College Saturday afternoon (Feb. 16) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
Both players were honored before the game on Senior Day before Dabrowski scored a game high 15 points and DeRosa 14 points as WNEC ran its winning streak to six games.
Dabrowski sank 7-of-12 shots from the field, grabbed five rebounds and had three assists. DeRosa made all five shots from the field and both free throw attempts. She also contributed five assists and four rebounds.
Freshman guard Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT) chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds,
Western New England College is now 15-8 overall and the co-leader in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) with a 10-1 mark.
WNEC made 12 of its first 13 shots in jumping to a 30-5 advantage in the opening 8:55 of the contest. The Golden Bears took a comfortable 42-15 lead at the break.
Junior forward Erin Thames (River Vale, NJ) had a double-double for the Fighting Scots with 12 points and a game high 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Bridget O'Hara (West Newbury, MA) also netted 12 points and dished out four assists.
