Golden Bears get home date in TCCC playoffs 

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Western New England College women's basketball team saw its seven game-winning streak ended Saturday afternoon (Feb. 23) following a 66-47 loss against Colby-Sawyer in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

The Golden Bears (16-9) will be seeded second in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament after finishing with an 11-2 league mark in their first season in the league. WNEC will host seventh-seeded University of New England (13-12, 7-6 TCCC) in a quarterfinal round game on Tuesday (Feb. 26).

Western New England College trailed by only eight points (31-23) at intermission before the Chargers used a 15-5 run in the opening 5:02 of the second half to break the game open.

Freshman guard Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT) was the only Western New England College player in double figures with 10 points.

Senior guard Tiffany DeRosa (Hamden, CT) added nine points and five assists while senior guard Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, CT) and freshman guard Lauren Stock (Rocky Hills, CT) each netted seven points. Dabrowski also hauled in five rebounds and dished out three assists.

Colby-Sawyer senior center Emma Pasquale (Eliot, ME) had a huge game compiling a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds. Senior guard Noelle Surette (Buxton, ME) also netted 17 points with five rebounds.

The Chargers improve their record to 17-7 overall and 10-3 in the conference.
