CAPE CORAL, Fla. - For the second straight day, the Western New England College softball team split a doubleheader at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.

The Golden Bears dropped a 7-1 decision to Wisconsin-Superior in the opener Sunday (March 16) before bouncing back for an 8-3 decision over Fitchburg State.

Freshman first base player Trish Breault (Millville, MA) went 3-for-5 with a RBI in the second contest while freshman rightfielder Elyse Gauvin (Swansea, MA) was 2-for-2 with two walks and a pair of RBI.

Senior Alex Paterson (Deep River, CT) was the winning pitcher.

The Golden Bears managed only three hits in the opener, including one by Gauvin.

Western New England College stays even with a 2-2 record.
