SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England College men's tennis team came through with one of its best performances of the season in taking an exciting 5-4 decision over visiting Roger Williams Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 9).
The Golden Bears raised their record to 10-3 after capturing their seventh consecutive victory. WNEC also is third in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) with a 6-1 mark.
Junior Alex Boutin (Bristol, CT) won his #2 singles match (2-6, 6-3, 6-4) and teamed with senior Ryan Tuner (Yorkville, IL) to take their #2 doubles flight.
Freshmen Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, NY) and Brian Relihan (Orange, CT) took their #1 doubles match along with their #4 and #5 singles matches, respectively. Jones had a key three set win (4-6, 6-1, 6-4).
Roger Williams is now 8-7 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
