WNEC blanks Eastern Nazarene for first shutout of season

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College women's tennis team defeated visiting Eastern Nazarene 9-0 Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 23) for its first shutout of the season.

The Golden Bears are now 2-4 overall and 2-3 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) after capturing their second straight match.

WNEC won every match in straight sets and allowed only four points in the match.

Junior Kristen Ayers (Acton, MA) won her first match of the season at No. 1 singles while senior Nicole Freed (Jersey Shore, PA) took her first singles victory at the No. 3 flight.

Freshman Jessica Haffner (Suffield, CT) gained her first college singles win at the No. 4 position.
