PAXTON, Mass. - The Western New England Colege women's volleyball team defeated Anna Maria 3-0 and fell to the University of New England 3-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action Saturday afternoon (Sept. 27).
The Golden Bears (6-6, 1-3 TCCC) had little trouble wit the host Amcats in the opener winning by the scores of 25-11, 25-10, and 25-10.
The second match was close with the Nor'easters prevailing 26-24, 19-25, 25-20, and 25-23.
Junior Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) had a pair of double-doubles with 14 kills and 10 digs against AMC and 13 kills and 20 digs against UNE.
Sophomore setter Lauren Strick (Harrisville, RI) compiled 14 assists with an ace in the opener while junior Christina Longto (Kingston, NY) added eight kills.
Sophomore Landi Landri (New Canaan, CT) contributed 13 kills and five kills in the second match while sophomore setter Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) had 35 assists and 14 digs.
UNE is 7-6 overall and tied for first in the conference with Gordon with a perfect 5-0 mark.
Anna Maria drops to 2-9 and 0-5 in TCCC.
