PAXTON, Mass. - The Western New England College women's tennis team captured its fourth consecutive match with a 9-0 victory over host Anna Maria Monday afternoon (Sept. 29) in a non-league match at the Paxton Sports Centre.
This was the third straight shutout for the Golden Bears who evened their record at 4-4. The Amcats remain winless at 0-6.
Although Anna Maria is a member of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC), the school doesn't compete in the league in women's tennis.
Junior Kristen Ayers (Acton, MA) and freshman Nicole DeSimone (Feeding Hills, MA) took their No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, respectively, and teamed for an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Senior Nicole Freed (Jersey Shore, PA) captured both her No. 3 singles match and teamed with sophomore Ashley Czelatka (Southampton, NY) for a win at No. 2 doubles.
Czelatka also posted her first college singles victory at the No. 5 singles flight.
