SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College women's volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over visiting Westfield State in the season opener for both squads Wednesday evening (Sept. 3) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

The game scores were 25-21, 25-20, 25-22.

Junior middle blocker Christina Longto (Kingston, NY) led the Golden Bears with five aces and five kills.

Junior libero Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) totaled nine digs while senior outside hitter Sarah Wainwright (Gilford, NH) had seven digs.

Sophomore setter Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) added 22 assists.

Westfield State junior libero Katie Kurty (Ludlow, MA) recorded 15 digs while junior defensive specialist Caitlin Kirby (Medway, MA) had 13 digs.

Freshman setter Alex Wahl (East Falmouth, MA) contributed 11 assists and six kills.
