Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. - The Western New England College men's basketball fell behind early and couldn't catch up in suffering a 55-44 loss to Roger Williams Tuesday evening (Jan. 13) in a game televised on a tape delayed basis by Cox Sports.
The contest will air at 8:00 p.m. Friday (Jan. 16) on Channel 3 for Cox Communications subscribers in the New England area.
Senior guard Billy Barrett (Fairfield, CT) led RWU with a game high 15 points after making 5-of-7 shots from the field, including al three three-pointers. Pat Flanagan (Somerville, MA), a 6-9 freshman center, added eight points and eight rebounds along with two blocks.
The Hawks bolted to a 21-2 lead midway through the opening half, before the Golden Bears sliced the margin to 30-19 at intermission.
Trailing 42-22 in the second half, Western New England College again fought back getting within 49-37 after a three-pointer by senior guard Matt Maynard (Paterson, NJ) with 5:11 left in the game.
Roger Williams held off the charge to move its record to 5-8 overall and 1-1 in The Commownealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
Maynard finished with 13 points while senior forward Kyle Fredette (Wallingford, VT) had seven points, 10 rebounds, and six blocks.
Junior forward Brendan Murphy (West Springfield, MA) also compiled seven points for the Golden Bears who fall to 3-9 and 1-1 in the conference.
