Endicott hands Western New England College first conference loss

BEVERLY, Mass. - Sophomore forward Ashley Vitale (Wilmington, MA) had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds (both game highs) as the Endicott women's basketball team cruised to a 79-48 victory over visiting Western New England College Saturday afternoon (Jan. 17) at MacDonald Gymnasium.

The Gulls, who had an eight-game winning streak snapped last Tuesday against Nichols, improved their record to 11-4 overall and 2-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). EC has won nine of its last 10 contests.

The Golden Bears, who suffered their first conference loss in three outings, drop to 6-8.

Junior guard Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) was the only Western New England College in double figures with 15 points.

Sophomore guard Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT) had eight points and eight rebounds while junior forward Caitlin Powers (Scotia, NY) also netted eight points.

Senior point guard Krystal James (West Haven, CT) dished out a career high seven assists.

Endicott also received double digit scoring efforts from senior guard Nicole Duchesne (Plaistow, NH) who tallied 14 points, and sophmore guard Ashley Wright (Merrimack, NH) and junior forward Cecily Chisholm (Lexington, MA) who both added 13 points.

The Gulls led 49-16 at haltime and coasted to thre win after shooting 56.6% from the field.

The Golden Bears struggled from the floor making only 33.9% of the field goal attempts.

Endicott also held a 37-28 advantage off the boards.
