Box Score BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore guard Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT) led three players in double figures with 16 points as the Western New England College women's basketball team posted a 54-30 victory over host Wentworth Institute of Technology Wednesday night (Jan. 21) at Tansey Gymnasium.
Belowsky made 6-of-11 shots from the field, including 4-of-5 three-pointers, as the Golden Bears raised their record to 7-8 overall and 3-1 in The Commownealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
Senior guard Katie Arey (Enfield, NH) and junior guard Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) each added 11 points.
Al-Darraji also pulled down a team high seven rebounds while Arey made all four shots from the field (including a three-pointer) and both free throws to go along with six rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
Senior point guard Krystal James (West Haven, CT) had a fine showing with six points, four assists, four steals, and a pair of rebounds.
WNEC led by seven at halftime (24-17) before breaking the contest open with a 21-0 run over a 5:18 stretch in the second half.
The Golden Bears shot 44.0% from the field (its second highest total of the season) while holding Wentworth to only 24.5% shooting while forcing 26 turnovers.
Senior guard Margo Ward (Mystic, CT) led the Leopards with 10 points while freshman guard Michele Harrington (New Paltz, NY) had a game high eight rebounds.
Wentworth, which had only six players in uniform, falls to 4-12 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
