SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College women's volleyball team celebrated "Dig Pink" Night with a 3-1 victory over Gordon Wednesday evening (Oct. 14) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

The game scores were 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, and 25-16.

WNEC raised its record to 18-8, which surpasses last year's win total of 17. The Golden Bears are 3-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

Senior outside hitter Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) led the home team with 12 kills and three service aces.

Junior middle blocker Lauren Landri (New Canaan, CT) had a solid performance with 11 kills.

Junior setter Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) contributed 37 assists and four kills.

The Fighting Scots received 10 kills from senior middle blocker Meredith Phipps (Sandy, UT) while freshman outside hitter Keri Hustus (Eastford, CT) added eight kills and 13 digs. 

Senior setter Leah Chamberlain (Canton, MA) finished with 15 digs.

Gordon drops to 6-16 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

Tonight's event was part of the national Side-Out program, which raises awareness and money for breast cancer research.
