WESTON, Mass. - The busy Western New England College women's tennis team bounced back from a long day yesterday for an 8-1 victory over host Regis Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 6).
The Golden Bears, who dropped an 8-1 decision at Colby-Sawyer Monday in a match that didn't end until 10:00 p.m., improved their record to 9-3 overall and 7-3 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
Senior co-captain
Kristen Ayers (Acton, MA) took her No. 2 singles match and teamed with sophomore
Nicole DeSimone (Feeding Hills, MA) for a win at No. 1 doubles.
Freshman
Linda Mustafa (Chicopee, MA) and
Kelly Murnane (Cheshire, CT) had wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles positions, respectively, and teamed to take the No. 2 doubles match.
Sophomore
Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, MA) also won both matches at No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles with classmate
Jess Haffner (Suffield, CT).
Western New England College has two matches left in the regular season, including one league contest.
