Western New England College falls to Colby-Sawyer in battle of conference leaders

NEW LONDON, N.H.
- In a match that began outdoors and ended indoors, the Western New England College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Colby-Sawyer Monday (Oct. 5).

The match started at 3:30 p.m. and after doubles play were completed, a rain shower hit the area, forcing both teams to complete the match at the indoor courts at nearby Dartmouth College at approximately 10 p.m.

For the Golden Bears, senior Kelly Murnane (Cheshire, CT) took a 6-3, 6-2 decision at the No. 4 singles spot while the No. 3 doubles squad of sophomores Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, MA) and Jess Haffner (Suffield, CT) posted an 8-2 win.

Western New England College is now 8-3 overall and 6-3 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

The Chargers raised their record to 10-1 and moved into a tie for first place with Nichols in the conference with an 8-1 mark.
