MILTON, Mass. - The Western New England College men's hockey team opened its ECAC Northeast season with a 5-0 loss at Curry Thursday evening (Nov. 19) at Max Ulin Rink.

Sophomore forwards Michael Guzzo (Pickney, MI) and Payden Benning (Estevan, Saskatchewan) combined for three goals and two assists. Guzzo scored twice while Benning had a goal and assist.

Curry took a 2-0 lead after the opening period when Benning lit the lamp at the 3:43 mark followed a goal by Guzzo just 52 seconds later. The Colonels tallied their final three goals (including two in the final period) on power play shots.

Western New England College junior goalie Justin Richards (Somers, CT) compiled a career high 59 saves in a terrific performance.

Freshman Robert Dawson (Woodbury, MI) stopped 19 shots for the Colonels who remain unbeaten at 3-0.

The Golden Bears are now 0-4-1.
